About Me

This site is an attempt to try to give something back to the community that I have learned so much from. If it wasn't for those kind people who shared their hard work, I wouldn't be half as good at computer related stuff as I am now. Under the source section of this site you'll find some source code I have written, and under the software section you'll find some open-source applications I have written (most of my recent work is featured on my GitHub account linked below).

Who Am I?

My name is Michael Bianco, I'm 100% Italian and proud of it (as most Italians are). My Catholic faith is an integral part of my life; without God, the sacraments, and my church community I wouldn't be where I am right now. Community service is a big part of my life. I find that the more you give to the needy the more you find out who you are and what you're meant for - namely loving others unselfishly. Currently residing in the United States, I enjoy a plethora of outdoor activities. My favorite being snowboarding, biking, hiking, sailing, and soccer.

Music is a huge part of my life. I play guitar, bass, djembe, and bit of drums. My equipment consists of: Line 6 Spider III & Fender 212R guitar amps, Pearl Forum drum set with Sabian symbals, and a Taylor 310. I love to enjoy lots of different music (although most are in the 'jam band' genre), check out my profile on last.fm.

Web and application development never gets boring, it seems like there are new technologies and trends emerging on a weekly basis; there is always something new to learn. Problem solving — whether on a micro or macro level — is what I thrive on. I enjoy combining my academic interests in Mathematics and Economics (you can take a look at my paper on Game Theory here) with an interesting software / web related project.

In addition to this blog, I am also active on Twitter posting interesting things I come across.
